Required documents to get married in Georgia
Shorter than you expect. For most couples: your passports — and that's it. Here's the honest baseline, and the two special cases.
For every couple
You need valid passports — both of you. That is the whole list for most couples.
- Valid passports for both partners.
- A notarized Georgian translation of your passports — we arrange it the morning of your appointment. You do nothing.
- Two witnesses with their own passports — we provide them by default, so you don't need to fly anyone in. If you'd rather have friends or family sign, they can — our witnesses come as backup either way.
If either of you was married before
One extra document from the country that issued it:
- Your divorce decree — or your former spouse's death certificate — with an apostille from the issuing country.
- A certified translation into Georgian — we can recommend translators if you need one.
Your arrival
- A flight arriving within our agreed 48-hour window — it absorbs delays and lets you eat lunch without hurrying.
- If your flight is delayed, we reschedule the Public Service Hall appointment at no cost within 72 hours of the original slot. Tell us your flight number and we'll watch it.
What happens with these documents
Before you land, we book your appointment at the Public Service Hall and prepare the translations. On the day, you sign, we translate live, our witnesses co-sign — about forty minutes — and your certificate is issued the same day, followed by the same-day apostille. The full journey is on the step-by-step guide.
