Who can marry in Georgia?
Most couples: yes, in one day. Here are the straight answers, including the one that isn't a yes.
International couples
Yes — that's the whole point. Both partners need valid passports and to be of legal age and not currently married. Neither of you needs residency in Georgia.
Your certificate is recognized in 150+ Hague Convention countries the moment you take it home.
Interfaith couples
Yes. The registration at the Public Service Hall is a civil, secular procedure — no religious ceremony, conversion, or clergy involvement is part of it. Many of our couples choose Georgia precisely because their home country ties marriage to religious authorities. If you want a ceremony, it's yours to define — or skip entirely.
Previously married partners
Yes, with one extra document: your divorce decree or former spouse's death certificate, apostilled by the issuing country. The full picture: previously married?
Same-sex couples — the honest answer
Under current Georgian law, legal registration is only available for opposite-sex couples.
We won't pretend otherwise. What we can arrange is a private ceremony without legal registration — a real ceremony, a real celebration, with a celebrant and witnesses — if that's meaningful to you. If your goal is a legally recognized same-sex marriage, we'll say so plainly: Georgia isn't the jurisdiction for it.
